"The American Music Center." Notes Second Series, Vol. New York and London: Macmillan Publications, 1980. The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, edited by Stanley Sadie. 1939: Arrow Music Press, Inc., 10 East 43 St., New York.In 1956, the company was bought by Boosey & Hawkes. With the acquisition of the non-profit-publisher Cos Cob Press, who had ceased publishing new music by the late 1930s, and a more business-like manner of organization, the new company gained importance while remaining non-commercial. It is considered to have been one of the more remarkable efforts by American composers to form their own publishing company.
